Bring the heat to the West Reading Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, March 15 from 12 to 5 PM. The West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation looks forward to hosting this great event again. You get to be the judge as you sample over 20 different chilis from participating businesses and decide which is the best. This event is rain or shine and limited to the first 200 participants. The Berks Community Health Center’s Annual Picture Berks Healthy event is taking place on March 16 this year from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at The Doubletree by Hilton in Reading. Each year, they recognize an outstanding individual and a community partner who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to BCHC’s mission through their time, talent and treasure. This year BCHC is honoring Donald Smith, a retired lawyer who played a key role in BCHC’s beginnings as one of their founders and also served on the Board. They are also recognizing The United Way of Berks County, who has played a key role in BCHC’s founding and has continued to support them in many ways throughout the years. The Oley Valley Community Education Foundation is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2026 with the inaugural Academy Awards of Excellence Gala on Friday, March 27 from 6 Pm to 10 PM at The Berkshire Country Club. In addition to celebrating thirty years of positively impacting youth of the Oley Valley, Gary Weller, a graduate of Oley Valley High School, long-term resident, and founding member and former Trustee of OVCEF, will be honored. This gala will unite educators, supporters, and community members who are dedicated to enhancing the educational experience within the Oley Valley School District by helping to raise monies to fund annual scholarships and teacher education grants within the district through a silent auction and raffles. The Optimist Club of Kutztown is hosting their annual Fools Run on Saturday, March 28. The race will feature two distances: the Sally Miksiewicz Memorial 5K and the Bob Focht Memorial 10-mile run. There is also the Steve O’Neil Memorial two-mile walk, a non-competitive event. Enjoy a great day through the countryside of Kutztown to benefit the Donald Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Optimist Club of Kutztown Foundation.
