The Ladies Auxiliary of the Lyons Fire Company #1 is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the Lyons Fire Company #1 truck crew raise funds to purchase new fire equipment / gear. Reading Choral Society Concert

The Reading Choral Society is hosting Johannes Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes & Edward Elgar’s From the Bavarian Highlands on Sunday, May 5 at 4PM. Join us at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, located at 430 S. Seventh Street in West Reading, under the direction of Dr. Graham Bier. RCS will be accompanied by Mary Bishop and Ya-Jhu Yang on a 9 ft. grand piano. The Liebeslieder Waltzes are a collection of love songs for voices and piano with four hands. From the Bavarian Highlands is a set of choral songs written as a remembrance of a holiday the Elgars had enjoyed in Upper Bavaria. At this concert RCS will also be presenting scholarship and high school award winners. RCS continues to honor these students at our spring each year. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. 46th Annual Pops Concert and Dinner Dance

The Rajah Shrine is hosting their 46th Annual Pops Concert and Dinner Dance on Sunday, May 5 at 2 PM. In this special event, members of the audience will be seated at tables at stage level with Bandmaster, Noble Bruce Rohrbach, and the Concert Band to enjoy an intimate cabaret musical performance.  Light snacks, camel’s milk and soda will be available to our guests.  Adult beverages will be available for purchase.  Following the hour long concert, a light meal will be served by our caterer.  During the meal and intermission, the dance floor shall be set up for the next relaxing entertainment with the Nobleaires Dance Band, under the direction of Noble Wayne Grace, featuring big band music.

Music and dinner reservations are $25.00.  Attendance is open to the public, but seats are reserved and limited. All proceeds will benefit the Rajah Concert Band, and reservations must be confirmed and paid by Friday, April 26. Community Yard Sale

Friends of Fleetwood Parks is hosting a Community Yard Sale at the Fleetwood Park on Saturday, May 4 from 8 AM to 2 PM. Reserve your space by emailing [email protected] for a 10’x10′ area for only $10.  Fees are $15 for the day of the event.  Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.  The event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit Friends of Fleetwood Parks.

 

4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival

Stop by the 4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival, focused on kindness and creativity, on Saturday, May 4 from 10 AM to 2 PM. A rain date is scheduled for May 11. This event is taking place at the Reading-Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center, located at 2615 Warren Road in Reading and is presented by The Camel Project. Attendees will enjoy chalk art, music, dance, painting, vendors, and food! The Camel Caravan will also be in attendance at this event. Learn more here!

 

Rejoicing Spirits Services & Fellowship

Rejoicing Spirits of Eastern Berks County invites anyone to attend their services and fellowship times on the first Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Parking is located behind the church with an accessible entrance from the parking lot. All are welcome to each 30 to 40 minute, no-shush ecumenical worship service that enriches the lives of all people, especially the differently-abled, their caregivers, families and friends. Rejoicing Spirits includes music, playing musical instruments, joyous singing, opportunities to participate, brief and meaningful messages, and the chance to connect with others.
