The YMCA of Reading & Berks County is hosting their Annual Breakfast of Champions for Youth on Tuesday, May 12 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading from 7 to 9 AM. This morning is dedicated to celebrating the leaders, volunteers, partners and young people who embody the Y’s mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This signature event highlights the impact of the Y’s programs, the stories that inspire us, and the champions who help move their mission forward. Breakfast begins at 7 AM, and the program begins at 7:30 AM. Learn more and RSVP here.

Opportunity House is hosting their Annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 22 at the Berkshire Country Club. Registration, networking and lunch will take place starting at 10:30 AM, with a shotgun start beginning at 12 PM. At 5 PM guests will enjoy a cocktail and award reception. Individual golfers can participate for $350 and a foursome is available for $1,400. Each golfer who participates will receive a round of golf, greens fee, use of locker room facilities, driving range and putting green, and a golf cart, as well as a boxed lunch, cocktail reception and awards ceremony. The 172nd Berks County Fair will take place from Wednesday, July 8 to Saturday, July 11. With a strong agricultural heritage, the fair strives to showcase farm fresh produce, livestock exhibits, and everything in between. On Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 the Mohnton-Cumru Lions Club is hosting their sixth annual Music & Makers Market from 10 AM until 5 Pm at the Mohnton Memorial Park. Several big name bands will be playing a variety of music including blues, country, jazz and rock. Artisans and craftspeople from the Tri-County area will display and sell original handcrafted items, such as jewelry, pottery, textiles, woodwork, food and more. Other activities will include a cornhole tournament for adults and Magic in Mohnton’s playground area, a bouncy house, face painting, balloons and aK-9 presentation for the kids. This event is free and open to the public.

On Sunday, September 13 the Blandon Lions Club is hosting their annual Gathering at the Grove. This is a free community event that includes live music, free food and ice cream. Three local bands will be playing this year: The Luke Hertzog Band, The Hannah Violet Trio, and Crow Hill Bluegrass.
