The Oley Fire Company is hosting their annual Peach & Ice Cream Festival on Saturday, August 9 from Noon to 9 PM at the Oley Fairgrounds. Join us for peaches and ice cream, plus a large variety of additional food. Music by The New Individuals will take place from6  to 9 PM. A large auction of valuable items will take place throughout the event, as well as 50/50 Bingo. Guests will enjoy Garden Tractor Pulls starting at Noon, a car cruise starting at 12 PM, and corn hole and quoit tournaments throughout the day. For more information, please call 484.256.8009.

On Saturday, August 9, Friend, Inc. is hosting their 16th Annual Brake the Cycle of Poverty ride. This event is taking place from 7 AM to 2 PM and is held rain or shine. Enjoy food, drink and music by the Hannah Violet Trio after the ride. There are four ride options, all of which require a helmet: The 62 mile begins at 8 AM, the 40 mile begins at 8:15 AM, the 25 mile begins at 9 AM, and the 10 mile begins at 9:15 AM. The cost is $40 for those that pre-register and $50 the day of the event. Children under 12 are free with a registered adult. The event will begin at Rickenbach Learning Center at Kutztown University.

The 38th Annual Golf Tournament is sponsored by the Topton Community Outreach Club (TCOC) and is taking place on Saturday, August 9 at Rich Maiden Golf Course. This tournament is a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start at 8 AM. The proceeds will benefit a local family / individual in need, as is the case every year. Those interested in playing in the tournament should sign up at Wert’s Beverages in Topton, PA. Questions? Northern Berks County’s Annual National Night Out event is being held at the Berks County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, August 5 from 6 to 9 PM. This event is a community-focused evening that fosters positive relationships between neighbors and law enforcement, and showcases the efforts of our local fire departments and emergency services. Join the Northern Berks Regional, Bern Township, Fleetwood, Tilden Township, and Hamburg Borough Police Departments for an evening celebrating community, safety and partnership. Berks Community Health Center is celebrating National Health Center Week from August 3 – 9 by hosting a Community Day event on Saturday, August 9 from 10 AM to 1 PM. Come out and celebrate Reading’s only Community Health Center, who provides exceptional care to all, regardless of ability to pay. Community Days offers a chance for patients of BCHC and Berks County residents to learn more about BCHC’s services while enjoying a fun and engaging atmosphere. This event includes information tables from local organizations and supporters / sponsors, free children’s activities, live music and entertainment, raffle prizes donated by local businesses and sponsors, and more! On Friday, August 22 the Hawk Mountain Council is hosting its Shoot For A Cause – Scout Style Trap Shoot at the South End Gun Club. The Shoot For A Cause, Trap Shoot, is a fun and competitive event to raise money to support the young women and men of the Hawk Mountain Council. It supports the leadership programs of Scouting in Berks and Schuylkill Counties. The day begins with a Novice Shooter Instruction Station at 10:00 am. Registration will also begin at 10:00 am, and at 11:30 am we will have an opening ceremony and a safety briefing. The competition will kick off after the briefing and be followed by an after-event reception, a raw bar, social time, and the awards ceremony. Each participant shoots a 75-target course, and we will finish the round with a Top Shooter event.  Each shooter will receive a commemorative shooter gift, though ammo is not provided for this event.

The Berks County Parrot Head Club is hosting Summer Parrot Daze on August 23 at Beverly Hills Beach Bar to benefit Hannah’s Hope Ministries. Founded in 2017, Hannah’s Hope ministries provides support for homeless single mother-led families in Berks County. Since their inception, they have welcomed over 96 women and their dependent children into their nurturing environment to help empower these families. Enjoy music from Noon to 8 PM with Caribbean Sunset Band from 12:30 to 3:30 PM and  Jimmy and the Parrots performing from 4 to 8 PM.  Seats are $50 plus taxes and fees and includes a lunch and dinner buffet. The Friends of the Reading Police K-9 Unit are hosting their 10th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 23 at Willow Hollow Golf Course. This Shotgun Scramble event begins at 8 AM with contests, raffle prizes and refreshments followed by a catered lunch for your enjoyment. To register, click here. Since 2007, The Friends of the Reading Police K-9 Unit has been dedicated to raising funds to maintain the K-9 unit. This organization is fully supported and sanctioned by the Reading Police force and the City of Reading, PA.

The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival’s annual event is taking place on Saturday, August 30 from 10 AM to 6 PM. This is the East Coast’s Premier Hamburger event. This event takes place rain or shine. The 29th Annual Chile Pepper Festival is taking place on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the William Delong Memorial Park in Bowers, PA. This event is held both days rain or shine! Jalapeno eating contest will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 1 PM. In addition to trophies, first place receives $100, second place receives $75, and third place receives $50. Guests will also enjoy music by The Chile Pepper Ramblers.
