Rejoicing Spirits Services & Fellowship

First Sunday of Every Month

Rejoicing Spirits of Eastern Berks County invites anyone to attend their services and fellowship times on the first Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Parking is located behind the church with an accessible entrance from the parking lot. All are welcome to each 30 to 40 minute, no-shush ecumenical worship service that enriches the lives of all people, especially the differently-abled, their caregivers, families and friends. Rejoicing Spirits includes music, playing musical instruments, joyous singing, opportunities to participate, brief and meaningful messages, and the chance to connect with others. Friends of Fleetwood Area Public Library Hoagie Sale

The Friends of Fleetwood Area Public Library is hosting a hoagie sale with The Shop Eatery. Hoagie coupons are $7.50 and includes provolone, LTO, and your choice of mayo or oil & vinegar. Coupons can be used for a hoagie of your choice on day of redemption (Ham, Turkey, Italiam, Roast Beef or Tuna). Purchase coupons by 9/4/2024 at the Fleetwood Area Public Library or call/text Nancy at 610-223-6341. Coupons can be redeemed at The Shop Eatery on Main Street from 7/29 to 9/4/24. Your purchase supports the library’s activities for the patrons and citizens of the community.

 

Kutztown’s Annual Dinner on Main

Friday, August 2, 2024 (Rain date = Saturday, August 3)

Kutztown Community Partnership is hosting the annual Dinner on Main from 6 PM to 10 PM on Friday, August 2 (with a rain date of Saturday, August 3). This community celebration showcases the many local eateries of Kutztown during a community-inclusive, one-night experience. During the event, the 200 block of Main Street is closed to traffic. Local restaurants will set up to cook and serve sample small plates to event guests who can then enjoy dinner alfresco while musical entertainment fills the street. This festive event continues to attract a growing crowd each year, and proceeds from the event are reinvested into the downtown community.

Tigers Athletic Association’s Ben Miller Golf Classic

The first annual Ben Miller Golf Classic will be taking place at Rich Maiden Golf Course on Saturday, August 3 from 12 to 6 PM. This event continues the tradition of the Tigers Athletic Association‘s Fleetwood Football Golf Tournament while honoring the dedication and determination of the beloved #66.  Raffles, 50 / 50, trick shot prizes and grand prize will be part of this event. Mission BBQ and Chatty Monks will be providing food and beverages.

Music at St. Paul’s UCC

St. Peter’s UCC (Molltown), conveniently located near the Richmaiden Golf Course, is hosting music on Saturday, August 3. All throughout the community are welcome and invited to attend this rain or shine event. The food stand opens at 4 PM and will include hot dogs, french fries, hamburgers, turkey bbq, pulled pork, mac ‘n cheese, soup, ice cream and homemade pastries. National Night Out – Northern Berks County

Hamburg Rotary Golf Tournament

The Hamburg Rotary Golf Tournament is taking place Friday, August 9, 2024 at Galen Hall Golf Course. Shotgun starts at 1:00 PM. This event is rain or shine. Cost is $85 per golfer and includes golf, dinner, soda, beer, prizes, and your cart, which is a requirement of the course. If you are interested in participating, all entries are due by Wednesday, July 24. Mail your entry form to Keith L. Phillips at P.O. Box 305 Shartlesville, PA 19554 with the check made payable to Hamburg Rotary Club. All proceeds benefit The Salvation Army, the Northern Berks Food Pantry, and the Hamburg community.

Summer Felting Class at the Fleetwood Community Library

The Fleetwood Area Public Library is hosting a summer felting class on Saturday, August 10th from 10 AM to 1 PM in Room 111 at the library. No experience is necessary. The cost is $20 per person which includes supplies to create 4 inch diameter bowls. They ask that you bring scissors, one large towel, and one hand towel to the event. The Oley Fire Company is proud to sponsor the Peach & Ice cream Festival on Saturday, August 10 from 12 PM to 9 PM at the Oley Fire Company Fairgrounds. Free Band Concert By The Philharmonic Band

The Fleetwood American Legion and Home Association is hosting a free band concert by The Philharmonic Band at the Fleetwood Park on Sunday, August 11 at 6 PM. In the event of bad weather, the event will be held on Monday, August 12.  This free concert is open to the public thanks to sponsorship by the Fleetwood American Legion and Home Association. Jay A. Smith is commander of the Legion and director of the band. The concession stand will open at 5:00 PM so you can come early and purchase food before the concert. 43rd Annual Dick Manmiller Memorial Golf Tournament

The 43rd Annual Dick Manmiller Memorial Golf Tournament is taking place on Saturday, August 17 at the Rich Maiden Golf Course. Registration takes place at 6:30 AM and the shotgun start takes place at 7:00 AM. The tournament is $80 per person and includes 18 holes, cart, a complimentary lunch served at the Blandon Fire Company at 12 PM, refreshments available at the course. and prizes. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin on all Par 3’s, and all prizes will be awarded during lunch. The tournament is a 4-person scramble format, best ball tournament, and all proceeds benefit the Blandon Fire Company. Everyone must register by August 13. Summer Parrot Daze Event Benefiting Hannah’s Hope Ministries

Support Hannah’s Hope Ministries in their efforts to help homeless women and their children make positive changes to their life. Since 2017, Hannah’s Hope Ministries has provided support for homeless single mother-led families, welcoming over 96 women and their dependent children into their nurturing environment. Attend the Berks County Parrot Head Club’s Summer Parrot Daze Event at Jimmy G’s Beverly Hills Tavern on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Jimmy and the Parrots will be playing music from 4:30 – 7:30 PM. Tickets are $40 and includes a dinner buffet and water. Alcohol is available for purchase, and drink specials will also be available. The Friends of the Fleetwood Parks is presenting the Berks Fiddle Fest on Sunday, September 15. This all-day festival will feature the Morning Concert Series, the Fiddle Workshop, an Open Mic Area, The Headliner Band Concert and the highlight of the day – the All Ages Fiddle Competition!  The event has been previously held in Lyons and Bear Creek, but Berks Fiddle Fest is making the Fleetwood Park its new home. Muhlenberg Lions Club 27th Annual Fundraiser Golf Tournament

The Muhlenberg Lions Club will be holding their 27th Annual Golf Tournament at Rich Maiden Golf Course, on Monday, September 16, 2024 to raise funds for our community endeavors in Muhlenberg Township. All monies raised will be used to help continue to support various community related projects, which include: Academic Achievement Awards, Academic Scholarships for Muhlenberg H.S. Seniors, Beacon Lodge (a PA Lions sponsored summer camp for children with special needs including blindness, deafness, and other physical and mental challenges), the Delaware Valley Eye Bank, Eye exams and eyeglasses, Juvenile Diabetes Research, Leader dogs for the blind, Muhlenberg Community Library, Vision Resource Center of Berks County, support of the Muhlenberg High School Leo Club, and other community service projects.

The cost per player is $70 and includes green fees, cart, soda, beer, coffee and donuts prior to start and a catered lunch following the event.  Please register by September 13 by making checks payable to and sent to Muhlenberg Lions Club, 3507 Chestnut Street Reading, PA 19605.

The 7th Annual Crime Alert Berks Awards Breakfast is taking place on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the new Redner Event Center at First Energy Stadium. The event begins at 7:15 AM and will honor Barry Schlouch as the recipient of the Barry E. Rohrbach President’s Award, Leon Grim as the Law Enforcement Officer of the year, and Patrick Boylan will receive the Lifetime Service Award. For over 25 years, Crime Alert Berks County has been leading Commonwealth Crime Stoppers programs and for the past 22 years, they have been the most successful program in Pennsylvania. Since their founding , they have paid $576,124, which lead to over 745 arrests.

CASA of Berks County’s Gala of Light Fundraiser

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Berks County is hosting their Gala of Light Fundraiser on Saturday, September 28 at Building 24 from 5 PM to 8 PM. Champion for Children honors will be awarded to East Penn Manufacturing and Attorney Susan DeNaro for their work improving the lives of children in Berks County. There will be a live auction of art from the Berks County Art Alliance and a fabulous silent auction. Please join us for an enchanting evening of tasty appetizers, live music, and mingling with others who care about Berks’ children.

Proceeds from the Gala of Light funds the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer court appointed child advocates who stand for abused and neglected children of Berks County. State Police Troop L’s Sunny Day Camp

The Pennsylvania State Police invites children and adults with special needs or disabilities and their families to join them for their free law enforcement based “Sunny Day Camp.” This camp serves residents in Berks, Lebanon, and Schuylkill Counties, and is taking place from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 5 at Camp Manatawny. Demonstrations and activities will include: Aviation / Helicopter Unit, SERT Team, Mounted Unit, Canine Unit, Interacting with troopers, lunch, games, a ride along and much more! There is no age limit to attend camp, but the event will be capped at 50 cadets, so register as soon as you are able to here. Reading Public Museum’s Noon Year’s Eve

Join Museum Educators and other community partners as the Reading Public Museum rings in the New Year from 9 AM to 12 PM at the museum and The Neag Planetarium! Families will be able to create some fun props and noisemakers that are commonly used to celebrate the holiday.
