Bethany Children’s Home Purse & Cash Bingo

Bethany’s Children Home is hosting their Annual Purse & Cash Bingo on Sunday, February 1 at the Goodwill Fire Company. Doors open at 10:45 AM and Bingo starts at Noon. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. This year’s Bingo will help raise funds for the construction of a new outdoor recreational complex for the youth at Bethany. This complex will replace their old courts, which were built in 1941, and construction will include brand new basketball, tennis and pickleball courts. Purchase your tickets here.
24th Annual Souper Bowl

Opportunity House is hosting their 24th Annual Souper Bowl event on Monday, February 2 at The DoubleTree by Hilton Reading. Proceeds support quality of life programs for adults, children, veterans and their families in Berks and Montgomery Counties. General admission tickets are $45 and includes your choice of a pottery bowl from local artisans and students and unlimited soup tasting from local restaurants. Preview admission tickets are $115 and includes early entry to the event, allowing you to have the first choice of bowls, as well as hearty hors d’oeuvres and mocktails and unlimited soup tasting and desserts. 89th Annual Farmers’ Night

The Kutztown Rotary Club is hosting its 89th Annual Farmers’ Night on Wednesday, February 11 beginning at 5:30 PM at the Lyons Fire Company. This is an annual celebration of farming that has been held annually since 1938. At this dinner, the community shows their appreciation for local farmers and other agricultural producers and their economic impact in our community.

This event is dedicated to honoring the everyday individuals who have demonstrated remarkable acts of courage and kindness, embodying the humanitarian spirit of the American Red Cross. This event will raise essential funds to support the lifesaving services provided by the American Red Cross in our community. Breakfast and networking will take place from 7:15 Am to 8 AM, and the Heroes program will start at 8 AM. The Berks Community Health Center’s Annual Picture Berks Healthy event is taking place on March 16 this year from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at The Doubletree by Hilton in Reading. Each year, they recognize an outstanding individual and a community partner who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to BCHC’s mission through their time, talent and treasure. This year BCHC is honoring Donald Smith, a retired lawyer who played a key role in BCHC’s beginnings as one of their founders and also served on the Board. They are also recognizing The United Way of Berks County, who has played a key role in BCHC’s founding and has continued to support them in many ways throughout the years. Oley Valley Community Education Foundation’s Academy Awards of Excellence Gala

The Oley Valley Community Education Foundation is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2026 with the inaugural Academy Awards of Excellence Gala on Friday, March 27 from 6 Pm to 10 PM at The Berkshire Country Club. In addition to celebrating thirty years of positively impacting youth of the Oley Valley, Gary Weller, a graduate of Oley Valley High School, long-term resident, and founding member and former Trustee of OVCEF, will be honored. This gala will unite educators, supporters, and community members who are dedicated to enhancing the educational experience within the Oley Valley School District by helping to raise monies to fund annual scholarships and teacher education grants within the district through a silent auction and raffles. The 35th Annual Kutztown Fools Run

The Optimist Club of Kutztown is hosting their annual Fools Run on Saturday, March 28. The race will feature two distances: the Sally Miksiewicz Memorial 5K and the Bob Focht Memorial 10-mile run. There is also the Steve O’Neil Memorial two-mile walk, a non-competitive event. Enjoy a great day through the countryside of Kutztown to benefit the Donald Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Optimist Club of Kutztown Foundation. Funds raised during this event will benefit high school seniors from the Brandywine Heights, Fleetwood Area, Kutztown Area and Hamburg Area School Districts. This year, the theme is centered around the Girl Scouts highest awards and the Take Action projects produced by girls whose aim is to better their communities and the lives of others. The following four individuals will be honored at the event: Meggan Hannigan, AVP of Development Advancement at Alvernia University, Radha Pyati, PhD, Chancellor & Dean of Penn State University, Monica Reyes, VP for Programs & Initiatives at Berks County Community Foundation, and Karen Wang, MD, FAAP, Chief Medical Officer at Berks Community Health Center. Opportunity House’s Annual Golf Outing

Opportunity House is hosting their Annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 22 at the Berkshire Country Club. Registration, networking and lunch will take place starting at 10:30 AM, with a shotgun start beginning at 12 PM. At 5 PM guests will enjoy a cocktail and award reception. Individual golfers can participate for $350 and a foursome is available for $1,400. Each golfer who participates will receive a round of golf, greens fee, use of locker room facilities, driving range and putting green, and a golf cart, as well as a boxed lunch, cocktail reception and awards ceremony. Rejoicing Spirits Services & Fellowship
First Sunday of Every Month
Rejoicing Spirits of Eastern Berks County invites anyone to attend their services and fellowship times on the first Sunday of every month at 3:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Parking is located behind the church with an accessible entrance from the parking lot. All are welcome to each 30 to 40 minute, no-shush ecumenical worship service that enriches the lives of all people, especially the differently-abled, their caregivers, families and friends. Rejoicing Spirits includes music, playing musical instruments, joyous singing, opportunities to participate, brief and meaningful messages, and the chance to connect with others. Join them for snacks and fellowships immediately following each service.
